About  Aleta

Aleta Overton

"Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you."

— Nathaniel Hawthone

Aleta Overton has lived off a steadfast supply of science-fiction, fantasy, and world mythology from the time she was a tot. It is not surprising that many of her narratives take a turn toward the whimsy and chimerical.

Born in Cleveland and raised in the suburbs, Aleta spent summers in her youth catching lightning bugs and butterflies thinking they were the fairy folk. From those (mis)adventures, Aleta started writing short stories and poems featuring her magical experiences. When she was a teenager, Aleta moved back to the city and began attending the Cleveland School of the Arts where she majored in creative writing. It was there that Aleta honed her craft and began a life-long love affair with the theatre. Her one-act play, Between Boyz was performed at the Cleveland Playhouse and from that success she went on to pen  more than fifteen stage plays.

Hoping to make her writing career, a full-time profession,

Aleta enrolled in Full Sail University’s Creative Writing for Entertainment program where she earned a BFA. While at Full Sail, Aleta found her niche learning to create relatable characters who are faced with impossible challenges. Aleta is currently writing the weekly paranormal serial, Breakers which can be found on WattPad. Aleta’s newest projects includes the dystopian short-story, Error and its interactive sequel, The Reaping. Her most recent play, The Chocolatier is now in consideration for production later in 2015.

Aleta lives with her family and lovable pooch in Ohio.
